For that Soviet ski chalet look

Maybe this doesn’t belong here, because the photo isn’t demonstrating poor taste on the real estate agent’s part. I think that this is just what the place looks like. You know, your standard parade viewing stand next to an A-frame sort of place. With someone dancing next to it.

That’s what life is like every day in Utah, isn’t it?

This is why I refuse to visit my brother and his family in Utah.

Stange people living in ‘dem A-frames.

  2. ipa says:

Oh – I get it now. The deck has a view of the scrub – WOW….I want it!

  3. Meg says:

    “Exterior: Animals permitted” What?

Yeah, it’s weird, but I kind of like it. There. I said it.

  4. GaryM says:

That’s no viewing platform. If the snow is 10 feet deep, that’s the ski lift. If the snow is less than that, then it becomes a ski jump.

  5. David says:

I think that is actually a fire-watch tower so they can get the hell out when the forest fire gets too close.

Also, interesting that it lists 0 bedrooms and 1.00 bathrooms with a half bath on the first floor which must mean there is another half bath on the 2nd floor – 2 half baths = no bathing. But maybe that is ok in Utah.

  6. T says:

haha… we have a cabin just a few miles from there… and here I thought the weirdos on your site were always someone else’s neighbors!

The viewing deck is nicer than the house, I guess that is what will sell this property.

  8. Amy© says:

Hmmm. Is the parade stand/ski lift/jump portable?

  9. Vanessa says:

    I don’t think he/she is dancing…smoking a doobie?

  10. Julie says:

Oooo, she’s on her cel phone, calling for HELP.

  11. Ptolemy says:

If you’re buying this house, you’re also buying a stairway to heaven. Hey-oooooo! Badum-pshh.

  12. GloamingDesigns says:

so, did anyone notice that under “interior features” the only thing listed is: “Basement(0% Finsihed) None/Crawl Space” ? fun family times.

  13. Ruth says:

This blog makes me feel happy, like my slightly irregular 1924 bungalow might someday sell for millions.

  14. Karen says:

    Um, one bathroom, zero bedrooms?

  15. Family Fielding Brown. says:

No really, what is that decking thingy for? Here in my tribe we do not know such things.

  16. Charlene says:

Of course she’s calling for help: the house just slid off its foundations and sank halfway into the ground. All that is left of the second floor is the deck.

  17. Aim says:

I found this site yesterday through a link on the readymade blog. I spent way too much time looking at all the funny posts. I live in Utah and I wonder if the weird deck thing is a Utah thing. I have seen several of them.

  18. Julie says:

Hmmmm, that’s where the rescue boat docks when the flash floods come?

  19. Sylvia P. says:

You’re all wrong. Judging by the bell bottoms, this photo is from c. 1969-1972. Making that a jet pack landing pad.

  20. Sylvia P. says:

Whoops, I meant 1974! This was like a hippies’ honeymoon palace.

  21. Z'rrza says:

Oh my goodness! I used to live in Mt. Pleasant, if I’d been back in the last 25 years, I’d probably know who lived there! rofl!

  22. Theresa says:

If she’s trying to make a phone call, she’d better climb up that platform. It’s the only place you can get cell phone reception up there.

  23. Guinnivere says:

no no no…you are all wrong…

it’s OBVIOUSLY Utah’s attempt to reserve federal funds for their own “Bridge to Nowhere”

like they could have let alaska beat them….humph!
