Lovely Listing

So calming.

Another find by Mary the Nebraska Realtor. “Anyone crazy enough to put these colors together on a wall needs to be in a padded room,” she writes. “Oh, wait…”

In the early 70′s, I am sure that a friend of my mother had this in suede-coat form . . . . scary!

  2. T says:

I’m assuming they use the padded room for a garage band (that plays really obnoxious music) and that obviously they haven’t had any paying gigs because otherwise who would decorate with the carpet remnants that are normally reserved for preschool kids to sit on!

  3. webbie says:

I’m guessing those are carpet samples glued to the wall…great for the drywall!

  4. Mike K says:

Why pay for carpet when you can dumpster dive and get last years carpet samples.

    Welcome to the circus.

  5. bikerchick says:

The listing claims, “basement walls that are straight as an arrow!” And we know, because we laid carpet tiles up the walls to prove it!

Oh, the bathroom faux abalone tile is to die for! Wait, looks like the black caulk strip is hiding lots of mold that must have given its life for this home. ::shakes head::

  6. Aim says:

I think these people really liked carpet, it looks like carpet is in the kitchen, carpet in the garage. Why not put carpet samples on the wall?

  7. Diana and Fam says:

Those are carpet samples! Talk about being CHEAP!!!

  8. Meg says:

This reminds me of my brother’s freshman year dorm room. He and his roommie lived in a prison like new dorm at UNCW, cinderblock walls, vinal floors, it was awful. They wanted carpet but couldn’t afford it. They went dumpster diving and cut out the usable parts. They duct taped it together on the bottom and voila…wall to wall carpet. It was kind cool actually. Different shapes, heights, designs. Compared to that, this is a poor execution.

  9. Schrothtastic says:

I actually thought about doing that to my basement FLOOR years ago – I couldn’t afford real carpeting, so I thought different carpet samples would be cool. Boy, am I glad I didn’t do it.

But it is really outstanding, isn’t it? LOL

I have to use Microsoft Office 2003 at work. In Word, you can insert various shapes into your document via the Drawing toolbar. You can fill them with solid colour, patterns, or various coloured patterns called, for some reason, “textures”. Grey marble, papyrus, wood grain, stuff like that. They’re displayed as thumbnails in a grid.

That is what that grid looks like.

  15. LadyCiani says:

Hah, I don’t have pics, but 50 years ago my grandfather tiled his shower in leftover tile, and it made a shower theme similar to this.

Effective? yes. Cheap? oh yes. And it showed.

  16. Cottagecheap says:

I could have actually stood it if they did ‘related’ colors. I like the idea of being “Green” but keep it real people!

Sadly there is HARDWOOD under all that carpet….

  17. Megan NZ says:

Is it just me or were there two of every photo in the listing?? bizarre…….

  18. Brandy says:

    Micro-mosaic – you’re doing it wrong!

This one really makes me feel ill… Although it could be the fires and smoke…

  19. Stuart says:

Doesn’t that constitute Partridge Family copyright infringement?

  20. Kaysie says:

That is a pretty crazy (and scary) picture.

  21. Glory von Hathor says:

I just wanna grab an army of balloon animals and go crazy with the static cling you could get off of that basement…

  22. K. says:

This one made me gag. Not only is it visually scarring, but the kindergarten memories just keep coming…

  23. Melissa says:

If you’ve ever wanted to live inside a ginormous Coach bag, here’s your chance.

  24. GeePig says:

So, I assume that they don’t have an upright vacuum cleaner, it would keep falling off the walls.

  25. Corey says:

That is a lot of work for that amount of beautification

  26. Susan says:

Someone was TOTALLY growing pot in this room. Isn’t that a Gro-light hanging from the ceiling?

  27. Boter2099 says:

“want to check out my crib? I’ve got my own recording studio! I sound proofed it in carpet samples, so no one will hear you scream”

  28. Abbey says:

I actually had a physical reaction to this one. And not in a good way, as you can guess. ;)

  29. Anonymous says:

I’d like to sprinkle cat-nip and unleash about 20 kittens in that room. . .they’d literally be climbing the walls! LOL!!!

  30. Anonymous says:

Probably used for soundproofing…i know a lot of bands who did this in their basements.

  31. William says:

Did the Partridge Family live here?

  32. Shalindria says:

    I love it!

Makes me wanna go look for carpet samples.

  33. Fira says:

Know how you can go into an interior decoration store (or HOME DEPOT, whichever) and flip thru carpet sample books to find the type you like best?

These people just bought the sample book.
