Peek-a-boo

I’ve long wondered why agents would include photos of the residents in their listings. It seems the people behind this listing, which househunter Valerie found, agree. Privacy now!

I think they’re in the Witness Protection Program.

I mean, even the protected still need to sell property occasionally, no?

  2. Patricia says:

well, as we’ve seen before…people in listing photos can be so darn distracting! So now we get to focus on the property and pay NO mind to the big white boxes. :)

  3. BikerPuppy says:

Actually, those are portals to another dimension. They don’t show up on film.

  4. Studley says:

Actually, it’s Living Room Tetris. Another square piece should clear a couple of lines.

  5. Glory von Hathor says:

Wait till Mr T shape and Ms L shape come home. Then the Tetris can really begin…

  6. T says:

so… they went to the effort to clean up and even set the table… but they couldn’t move out of the way of the camera?

It looks like a nice place… as long as you can get past the reality-voids

  7. Colleen says:

It’s actually the new concept in real estate ads – insert a picture of yourself into the blank space to see just how fabulous (or not) you’d look in your new home.

  8. Lulu LaBonne says:

Actually that’s God and His wife emanating a lot of light

  9. Meg says:

It’s too bad they didn’t put little black rectangles over their eyes.

  10. apronk says:

    The sellers are such squares.

  11. Alison says:

Brilliant – in my office we’re always complaining that our colleagues in the States doesn’t understand European privacy law requirements.

Do you hear us now, Houston?!

  12. Kris says:

I reckon it’s a rental. I’ve often seen pictures with kids in them and you just know they’re rentals. Same with the degree of tidiness. Rentals make no effort to conceal the tea towel, dishes, ashtrays, clutter on the coffee table etc.

Those Europeans are always ahead of us on the latest decorating trends aren’t they?

I found your blog last week and it’s fantastic. So thank you for the laughs! I’ll never look at real estate listings they way I used to…

  15. yousuckatcraigslist says:

I almost wore that today, too.

  16. Stephanie says:

I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying Immoweb. Admittedly you seem to have missed my favourites — the ads showing only an unmade bed, or the kitchen full of dirty dishes and the estate agent’s handbag… but you’re getting the idea. Now you see why it took me a mere 4 years to find a place to buy here…!

And I have to say, there is a remarkable proportion of frosted glass floors and stairs without railings here, I think they’re just less risk-averse than the rest of us….
