how clever! when your drunken husband gets home and needs to sleep it off on the porch, at least he can’t fall off the swing. Though I do wonder how he’ll get IN the swing in the first place…. maybe by crawling through the little hole in the chain….

See, that’s why you need to take care when you read about “numerous code violations.” What the previous buyers DIDN’T know when they installed the swing was that the neighbors had lodged a complaint about the porch being too long and an inspector was about to come down and insist they shorten it by 5 feet. Hence the swing with no leg room.
“But honey, there isn’t really room for a swing on our porch.”
“Well, we’re putting one in anyway. I always said when I had a house of my own, I’d have a porch swing, and by golly I’m going to have one.”
