The craziest thing? This is the mud room.
Found By: Juliette. Note: not actually the mud room, as far as I know. And aren’t you impressed that — for once — I made it through a New Zealand listing without mentioning Flight of the Concords? Oh… crap.
P.S. OK, it isn’t New Zealand, it’s California, and I have no idea why I thought it was New Zealand, other than that I’m usually drunk as a skunk when I write these. My apologies.

Hey, if it ain’t baroque, don’t fix it!
booo, booooooo
The first four pictures, and then you get to the kitchen. ::blink:: guess we know where the money ran out!
my thoughts exactly!
Confused… that listing is from California isn’t it?
Oh. Hmmm. This makes no sense now, does it? I have no idea why I thought it was in New Zealand. Apologies, New Zealanders.
You thought they were Australians, didn’t you?
Some might not know the differences
Um, this isn’t New Zealand! This is in Piedmont (Oakland), California! Which might be great for people in flight from Concord, but *not related* to Flight of the Conchords.
Clearly that’s the source of my confusion. Thank you for figuring that out.
It’s California…nuf said.
Owned by someone rich…And the house just screams: “I’M BETTER THEN U!”
-_-
show-off
I don’t know what’s worse: the seizure-inducing detail on the walls and ceiling or the fact that I really, really want this room.
I’m not quite sure why you refer to it as a New Zealand listing when it clearly says the address is in Piedmont, California. As best as I can tell, tectonic plate movements have not become that extreme.
I think it was in New Zealand, then moved as part of a witness protection dealy.
On behalf of ALL New Zealanders, I protest!!! There is only “mud” ,that is at all famous, in Rotorua, and when I was up there recently, I didn’t see any signs of such ostentation! Gross… I was so relieved to find the house is not actually from down this way… phew.
I clicked on the picture, and the listing says Piedmont, CA. ??
Four bedrooms of tasteless crap that hasn’t been updated since about 1983 for over 2.5M?! Whoa…
It’s like being on the inside of python.
Don’t you love when no one reads the comments above theirs? By the way, I hear the listing is actually in Piedmont, CA.
This room, if it were a little less loved, is how I imagine it felt for the spiders living in Miss Havisham’s wedding cake.
The wall and ceiling stuff is strangely attractive… maybe for one small room with wicker furniture in it. It’s already a bit much for a room this size.
As an architectural artist myself I appreciate the the watercolor rendering of the front of the house, but, since the house exists in reality, why not take a photo? You took photos of the horrid innards?! Continuity please.
I love how the exterior photo is pretty much concept art. Like “we’ll get to it later after we crazy up the inside a bit.”
Alot of money went into this house…You just tell by looking at these pictures.
