Modern Art Is Getting Out Of Hand

Funny-Real Estate-Photo-GraffitiIsArtNow

Like stained glass? Have I got the house for you!

(Found By: Asta L I highly recommend clicking through to the listing, as it’s astounding. Every single room is this complete. These decorators took a theme and ran with it.)

Oh, dear God. Let us spray.

  2. LMA says:

You know what, even if *they* paid *me* $379,000 to take this … hmm, I don’t even think you can use the word “structure” for it at this point … anyway, even if they were to pay me, it wouldn’t be worth the risk that any one of the members of any of the many gangs that frequent the location might catch me tagging over his ink with my primer/drywall. Honestly, this was so depressing I can’t laugh at it.

  3. drjim says:

    “Bring your paintbrush”???
    How about “Bring your SANDBLASTER”!

  4. Even the inside of the toilet bowl?!

  5. kristen55 says:

How did they do the ceiling fan blades without getting overspray on the ceiling?

That is really just jaw-droppingly amazing. Just think of how much paint that took! I agree, I wouldn’t want to be the one caught painting it over!

  6. Vb says:

I feel oddly compelled to leave it exactly as it is.. it’s so Saints Row.

  7. mystic_eye_cda says:

I don’t think decorators were involved.

I think this is more a case of “Realtor left lock box combo on the web listing” and a buncha drunk “gangsta” teenagers had a party (or two, or twenty)

    • Grani says:

I think mystic_eye has figured it out. But I still worry that some parent thought it was cool to let the kids just “express themselves”.

  8. Cate says:

Are the extra spray cans in the photo included?

  9. NO CARRIER says:

The sauna’s smiling at me. Oy.

  10. Cronus says:

“all this home requires is time, love and attention… and a bulldozer” I fixed it for the Agents.

  11. melba says:

I sort of agree with VB. It’s so much color it is gorgeous. For someone else to live in. Not me.

I only wish they had finished the bedroom properly and done the ceiling. Its white is rather bleak.

  12. Dawn says:

The ad says it’s in a “handy” location.

Looks like it’s a little TOO handy.

  13. Whatever says:

I love the decorated ceiling fan!

  14. The fans on the ceiling fan seem to tell prospective buyers to run. Also the foundation looks a bit unsturdy to me, but perhaps that is how they do things down under.

  15. Lynntastic says:

I just can’t believe how well photographed the entire house is! Almost makes you think the realtor did it and doesn’t want to part with it.

  16. lara7 says:

If it’s so close to “station and shops”, how did someone not notice bunches of people inside shaking spray cans? are there no neighbors? Even if a dozen people tagged this house, you know this took at least an hour to get like this.

    • MarcyLoo says:

If you check out the house on google maps street view that may answer your question. Many trees & tall bushes surrounding this property – you can’t even see the house for that tall tree in front of it. I imagine the “decorators” had complete freedom hidden by all that foliage!

  17. Christy says:

One would think that for $379,000, the realtor could at least paint over the mispelled curse words.

  18. las794 says:

What’s needed here isn’t a scrubber so much as a bulldozer! $379K??? Who are they kidding?!

  19. PrincessLuceval says:

That’s one way to block out the car parked right outside. Who needs curtains?

  20. Samuel says:

I find it ironic that the word written on shelf… and close to the ceiling “RyN” looks so much like the word “Run…” yeah, this is for the art enthusiast that’s for sure, but I think the rest of us should do just that “RUN!!” and while we’re at it, send these pictures to “Design to Sell”

  21. matt says:

If your site is as funny as you are I will spend all my time there from now on.

  22. toribug11 says:

i LOVE it. i wouldn’t pay even half what they were asking for it however. and Christy is right.if your going to swear, do it properly :)

    • Isaac says:

And if you’re going to use a contraction formed off of a second-person pronoun…

      • mystic_eye_cda says:

You know that at least half of the people reading this aren’t going to notice she said “your” instead of “you’re” and at least half of those that know the difference aren’t going to know what a second-person pronoun is.

  23. James M says:

    Well, that’s Australian dollars, right?

  24. Chris says:

379,000 Australian dollars = 329,465 US dollars. This must be one fantastic location to ask that much for such a grotesquely vandalized house!

  25. Emily N says:

Despite the graffiti, it looks like it could be a nice house. :-/

  26. Lisa says:

Surely it’d be cost-effective to at least white-wash the walls before putting this on the market?

The graffiti’s so dense and bold that a potential buyer can’t see the house behind it.

  27. Andara Bledin says:

I’m actually surprised that so much of the breakable bits of the place were left so fully intact.

Sure, there’s paint on everything, but aside from some damaged fencing and a couple of broken window panes, I didn’t see much in the way of destructive vandalism.

If you were planning to re-paint the place anyway, it wouldn’t be quite so bad.

I am wondering, though, if they pulled the fan blades to paint them, and put them back. Since aside from one tag on that same ceiling, it looks like they stuck to walls and fixtures.

    ^-.-^

  28. Perhaps the vandals were just trying to take our focus off the pink walls…

  29. miyon says:

First time on this site and just wow..
Also if you look at the listing now, its been sold. I can’t imagine how.

  30. Rae says:

Wow… this is a house I would definitely go look at. Not to buy of course but just to see it in person and ask if the Realtor is crazy.

  31. dstluke says:

Hey, just a couple of hits of acid and this place rocks.

  32. yolanda says:

Squatters. that’s why they didn’t bust it up, they were keeping it intact to keep it sheltering while they lived in it. The cost of cleanup is so great you’d just gut the place and start over. Property value only, except that the property has services and a foundation and structure, so it’s worth a bit more than an empty lot.
