Chairoween?

Chair has asked me to pass along a message (or maybe I should dial back on the afternoon gimlets, whatever, I’m running with it). Chair has noticed that Vladimir Putin gets to have Vladurday, and cake decorators get their Sunday Sweets. So when is Chair’s day? A special day, dedicated to all things Chair?

“You can have one,” I told Chair, for this is a persistent hallucination, “when I come up with a good name for a Day of Chair.” And I haven’t yet. And Chair is… displeased.

So please help me. Chairday? Chairteenth? Saturchair? What?

      *Idea*

Sara if you’re serious about having a day devoted to chair, you could indeed call it Chairity Day and give it a worthwhile purpose (not that just being fun and honoring Chair isn’t worthwhile).

How about having a little online fundraiser for a good cause. You could donate the money to, say, Goodwill– a cause near and dear to Chair’s heart, since it helps find good homes for his homeless cousins (and helps people find jobs too!).

      (Disclosure: I work for Goodwill.)

The name of the day of the chair would shift as language and culture shifted, as the other days’ names have.

I don’t know. I think you should appoint a chairman to decide.

(But I do think it should be a weekly day, not an annual event.)

  25. Ladyofthemasque says:

I like Chairukah, since Chair does deserve 8 whole days…but I also like Chairity Day. (The Goodwill worker makes excellent points as to why.)

    • Vivian says:

      Why thank you. :-)

      • Oh goodness, you work in a Goodwill in Houston? Could you please do us a favor, then…?

If you happen to see a man in his mid-to-late 60′s, about 6 foot tall, glasses, bearing a strong resemblance to Santa Claus in faded blue jeans and a Hawaiian shirt, with a rolled up bandanna tied around his head and loose slippers, then for the love of all that is holy and pure, PLEASE shoo him the heck out of the place before he buys everything in sight! Both my house AND my Mom’s is overflowing already! ;-)

  39. Joy says:

“Unlabor Day.” “Standover.” “Keisterrest.” Or, simply, “Seating.” The possibilities are endless.

  40. Chris says:

I’m sorry but Chair can’t have a day. Before you all stone me, you have to hear me out.

Think about it, if Chair had a day, then no one would be able to sit on Chair that day. Governments would falter, since they couldn’t put their behinds on Chair when they sign their various legislations. Businesses would come crashing down, because their executives couldn’t christen Chair with their derriere that day. Families would fall apart, since they couldn’t come together at the dinner table, because there would be no where to sit.

I think Chair is just trying to start a revolution! And if that is the case…there’s already a day named for that…one that’s celebrated, in one form or another, in every country around the world…They call it…Independence Day!

    Viva La Chair Revolucion!!

  52. Curiouser&Curiouser says:

    Thankschairing? Chairgiving?

Either way it is an important day for Chair. I mean without chair and all his friends, how can we eat at the table? We’d have to eat sitting under the table!!

  53. Ramona says:

Hey, Box gets a day every year, right after Christmas, at least in some countries. Chair is at least as deserving as Box. We need Chairing Day! Maybe right after New Year’s Day.
