The house is behind the silo – this is probably the best camera angle.
With 2012 fast approaching I’m thinking there will be a bigger and bigger market for above ground bunkers.
However they’ll need to make the sale quickly on this house. Either way the demand for it will drop off sharply on Dec 13.

I’ve never seen a glass patio door that doesn’t go all the way to the floor. I know heating is important, being that it’s Minnesota and all, but couldn’t they have located that baseboard heater on another wall? Isn’t that a trip hazard?
What in the world? Do you exit and enter through the bound-to-make-you-trip sliding glass door? Or does the joint come with a massive can opener to pry open the roof to gain access?

I know there was a (mercifully brief) movement in architecture known as “Brutalism” (a leading example is of the Christian Science Reading Room in DC, which the congregation wants to demolish … the city won’t let them because it’s a “historic landmark”) but I had no idea anyone ever built a private residence in that style! Which really leads me to wonder who commissioned this thing in the first place? Is this the result of that Kohler ad where a couple is interviewing an architect who boasts of his “five prestigious awards” before asking “now, what can I do for you,” and the woman slams a faucet down on the desk and orders “build a house around *this*!”
“Build a house around this, you mother@$*#!? I’ll show *you* a house built around this!”

For what it’s worth: that church in DC you mention isn’t a Christian Science Reading Room, I believe it’s a Baptist congregation; and the city wasn’t blocking the demolition, it was a historic-preservation group that had no connection to the church or city. DC gave the church the permits for demolition a few months ago.
Brutalism? They couldn’t come up with a worse name?
Wow. I am usually all in favor of protecting buildings of historical or architectural import, but I don’t blame the congregation for wanting to get rid of that thing. I’d be terrified to go to church there.

I want to see the rest of this “house”. Looks like there’s a little wraparound piece to the left there – so I’m guessing it’s a midcentury motel-style apartment complex, photographed from the worst possible angle. Might be really awesome from the other side.
