Actually, I find it disturbingly reminiscent of the first season of Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The Laughing Man is at work! (Though the smilie faces that he placed over folks’ faces were a bit different, and quoted J. D. Salinger. Interesting series.)
