Awesome Rainbow House

Funny Real Estate Listing - Rainbow

Good morning! Are you awake yet? Here’s some color for you! Wake up wake up wake up!

Found By: Christie

Loveliest comment, by Madness: I accuse the owners as not having the courage of their convictions! Sure, on the outside, the house is painted in toy box chic, but inside, it is perfectly white! So, it’s okay for the neighbors to see all the bright colors, but they themselves remain ensconced within pure white! The HYPOCRISY!

The 1980′s inspired inside and the primary colored outside leads me to only 1 conclusion. Punky Brewster lives here.

I think it’s awfully practical. “Turn left on Broad St., make your second right onto Daffodil Lane, and we’re on the right. Under no circumstances can you miss it.”

Five levels! Just imagine the chore of carting the laundry up/down/up/down all the live long day. I live in Chicago, where tri- and quad-level townhomes are all the rage. I never understood their popularity, unless all those stairs save you on a gym membership. “Here, Granny; you have your own private bedroom on the roofdeck level. Your very own bath is only 40 stairs below– you can do it, Granny!” Me, give me a ranch any day…

And they say Lego isn’t a real building material.

Cool! I know right where that is! I used to live in Oak Cliff, maybe 1-2 miles away from this house.

I wasn’t sure if it was the same one when I saw the picture at first – either it’s been enough years that I no longer remember it exactly, or they’ve changed the colour scheme a bit – but once I saw the zipcode, I knew it was the same one.

“…great views from the subroom.” Tsk, tsk.

(I kind of love this house, though. But not enough to live in Texas).

  8. Quark says:

I wonder if there are square, circle, triangle, star and moon shaped holes in the roof where you can look up at the stars or hammer in the matching shapes before it starts to rain?

  9. Raleigh says:

It looks like one of those McDonald’s play places.

Dallas – I would have thought Austin or even San Antonio, which is a colorful city if not weird like Austin. This house is pretty dull inside. And the porch is falling apart. But the colors on the outside are excellent. I wonder what kind of people are going to talk themselves into it.

@ouzelum bird – there are parts of Texas that are tolerable, culturally speaking. However, meteorologically speaking is a different matter. Today it’s 65 F on the winter solstice. Could be 20 three days from now. And in the summer it WILL be over a hundred for weeks in a row.

Heh. I was born in Sherman. My mother has described to me her misery in being pregnant with me through a sweltering Texas summer; indeed, she waxed so fervent on this subject that as an adult I’ve been careful to give the entire state a wide berth. =)

The houses all around this one are…. perfectly boring, at least on the outside. :)

    • Christina says:

Greetings from just up the road in Denton where the temp did indeed drop from 70 to 20 on the 24th and we had a very white and icy christmas.

It’s a halfway house for Hamburglers!

  12. TT says:

Where can I look at this house for real!??

    • Isaac Eiland-Hall says:

It’s in Oak Cliff, which is a part of Dallas, TX. I feel comfortable in saying that because the actual zip code was listed in one of the posted images… I wouldn’t feel comfortable in saying more than that, but if you were in the area, I bet you could ask around and find it. :)

  13. T$ says:

The house that Punky Brewster built!

  14. Kevin says:

Speaking of McDonalds, If you view the listing you can see the restaurant style atrium in the living room(?). Definitely has the fast food designs most popular to children in it.

  15. alex says:

It looks like one of those inflatable bounce-houses!

  16. Sarah says:

I kind of love this house. It’s colourful, which is awesome. Except that it’s not pretty inside. I would love a super colourful house. As proof, I offer the fact that my bedroom is a very bright lime green shade, called “Lime-Ade”. It’s fantastic.

  17. Lisa says:

Is this the house from Ferris Bueller? No wonder Cameron was a basketcase.
