That’s not Christmas! Christmas would have zip lock bags hanging from the mantle. You can see that this is a congregation of trash bags worshiping the Orange Juice Box on the mantle. I’m guessing by the arrangement of the bags that this is the yearly celebration of when the giant orange came down the chimney and released the trash bags from their earthly realm.

I knew a family with 6 kids and each year, the parents stuffed their their presents in a Hefty bag and slapped a bow on it. They’d awake every Christmas morning to pretty much what the picture shows. Six green bags under the tree–now that’s Christmas!

Despite the bad things I see in the advertisement if this house was in Vancouver I would buy it NOW. $15K U.S. wouldn’t even get you six months rent of a house like that here.

I also particularly liked that there were pictures before the boarding up, and after. Like we were seeing time lapse photography of that poor house’s eventual surrender into what is clearly going to be an inevitable collapse unless something changes pronto.

I think a lot of the rules of staging are sort of strange, “remove all family photos” “color coordinate the clothes in your closet” — I mean, maybe it’s me, but I find that a vaguely creepy overall impact, “Oh, what a nice house these faceless drones have…”

But some of them are good rules, like the one that should state “remove actual garbage before taking picture”, only that’s not a staging rule, it’s more a “if you have the common sense God gave a goat, do this!” sort of rule.

The taxes are $2,000 on a $15,000 house? Liked how they managed to board up the porch while they were taking pictures. Love the garage! Lots of “potential” dumpster material there. Also more unburied bodies.

Looks like the house might have been a home business at some time – the front windows might be useful for a seamstress or a hairdresser.

Unfortunately, the “sunset in hell” logo of the estate agent and the other pictures makes me think of Sweeney Todd.

Presumably the bags are hoping Santa will bring them the road to gentrification because…holy crap, 15k? Isn’t that about the going rate for a car? An economy car at that?
