Act Now On This Hot Cabin Deal-

Log Cabin Before

Whoops, too late.

Log Cabin After

At least this way it’s easier to stack. And stackablity is the most important quality in a home.

Found by: Patricia. “Too late” by ULTIMATE REALTY.

    I think that’s Sarah Palin’s old home.

He’s adjusting the foundation to make it more secure so you know you’ll be safe.

I’ve always wanted a cozy log cabin.

C’mon, kids, hop in the car … let’s go for a ride and check it out!

  2. Going Postal says:

I’m so torn…. flush toilet or airplane access, flush toilet or airplane access? Airplane? Potty? ARGH!!!!

  3. Jen says:

I am disappointed that there is no option of taking the virtual tour of the home on the website.

  4. Angel says:

Is there parking for my dogsled?

  5. Tacomagic says:

I think this house also has another important feature: Biodegradability. Not only does it have this featuer, but it’s actively utilizing it.

  6. Vivian says:

The top photo reminds me of the treehouse-fort my Kindergarten teacher’s son had in their backyard. (She babysat me once so I got to see it.)

I’m sure it was nowhere near that big. Everything looks huge when you’re five, including third-grade boys with cool treehouses.

    • Quark says:

I’ve seen an office block that looked just like between Liverpool and Manchester (Beside or opposite Corus next to the railway line). Rusty red corrugated aluminum wall with holes cut out for windows.

  7. Texchanchan says:

This has got to be the worst domicile Lovely Listing has featured yet. That kitchen. “Kitchen,” I should say.

Any bets on how long the beard is on the owner? (No point betting on if he has one. We know that.)

  8. Veronica says:

Heat type: stove (also listed as a “feature”, is heat a special perk in Alaska?!)

If you look closely at the picture of debris, I believe we have found the tub…cleverly shaded from that baking northern sun.

    • Land of shimp says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. Indoor plumbing seems to be a perk in some areas. Roofs. Walls. All perks.

Boy, the more I learn about Alaska — which I grant you isn’t much, and isn’t coming from many sources that flatter the state –the more I know I have no desire to live there.

I like heat. I like plumbing. I like road accessibility. I like houses that don’t seem to be interchangeable with kindling.

      I’m just weird, I guess.

  9. JKH1991 says:

The listing mentions 25% down, cash or trade. Trade? What does that mean, if I bring you several dozen beaver pelts as a down payment, I get the house?

    • Land of shimp says:

Seriously, that made me guffaw. Not just laugh, unladylike chortling, all the way :)

    • LMA says:

I’d bet you 100% that’s *exactly* what it means. And if what you offer to trade is a new snowmobile, *and* you are willing to drive it in and let the seller drive away with it, they’d probably call the whole thing an even deal, no need to get the banks involved.

  10. kristen55 says:

I like the mention of ‘building materials on site’. Yes, they’re called trees. Good luck with that. Hope you’re ‘handy’!

  11. ouzelum bird says:

The photos are 4 years old and look like they were taken through a pinhole camera by someone who’s blind in one eye and can’t see out the other, and then run through Photoshop to add Noise, Grain, Extra Speckle and Random Tilt. It’s a new genre: Grunge Real Estate Photography.

It also makes me wonder: If the only decent pix are 4 years old, whatever does the place look like now? It almost makes me want to go parachute in there to find out. Almost.

  12. Charlene says:

I always thought the Unabomber was from Montana.

Feh, Montana, Alaska: it was on one side or the other of B.C.

    • LMA says:

Hey, the Unabomber got caught, the amateur. This is probably where the current Number Two Al Qeda leader is living.

      • ann says:

and if it is where the Al Queda guys are hiding, I say we leave them here: living in this “house” has to count as some kind of punishment!

  13. pepperjackcandy says:

At first, I thought this was my grandfather’s cabin in North Carolina.

    Now I’m all nostalgic.

  14. Stuart says:

Darn. I was kinda hoping the pictures would include the prone iconic figure of a deceased Darth Vader and Luke standing there with a torch, a manifesto, and a couple of Jewel CDs.

  15. Jess says:

It’s like your very own Lincoln Logs house!

  16. JMixx says:

And here I thought that “tumbledown cottage” was just an expression from a storybook…!

  17. nowhere says:

The ne plus ultra in “Squatter Chic”

Good thing they copyrighted and watermarked all those photos too. Things of such exquisite beauty and commercial desirability MUST be protected.

  18. dcisfun says:

to neglect almost 40 acres of land and waterfront views for those pictures is wrong just wrong….however i was wondering what sort of address you would give to your friends and relatives zip cods are too short for gps numbers and “beaver shack by the big lake” is just a tad too vague…

  19. Becca says:

I’m in Alaska right now- grew up here.
Actually this listing doesn’t look too bad compared to some others I’ve seen up here… I have a dear friend who grew up in a one room cabin with her mom, dad and brother. And yes, it was just as bad as that sounds…
I’m a fan of plumbing and indoor heating, but I know many people who have come up here for the ‘Alaskan experience’. They choose to live without water, and with wood heat.
NOT an experience I feel necessary to my life.

    Tree house from Ikia
