Happy Not For Sale Wednesday! This week, let’s think about what it would be like to live in an office. And not just any office, but one that used to be a cement factory. To begin with, we have what I will turn into my dining room:

The big cone is the salt dispenser. I really like salt.
Here’s my paintball room:

And finally, here’s the outside. I have a slight problem with ivy.

There you have it — my new home.
Found by: I don’t know. I mean, I found these photos today after looking for them, but I don’t remember where I first heard about a former cement factory being turned into offices and I doubt it came to me in a dream. If you want to take credit, knock yourself out.
Loveliest comment, by noonebutme: seems like it would be hard to keep up an appetite with the possibility of a ton of concrete pouring out over the table at any moment.

It’s okay, just eat really, really fast.
It’s like the Sword of Damocles, but more mafia-related.
I’m going to go with “actually I think this is awesome.” Not that I’m hankering to live there, but I love the pictures. Somehow it’s partly reminding me of the ruins of Cair Paravel, and partly of a huge cave.
Love the concept, except that first picture.
You put it very well. It is castle-like, isn’t it? I think it’s quite fabulous. Except I could NOT sit under that giant bomb tip.
See, I’m thinking of that as a giant stalactite… that’s where the “cave” comes in. It’s weird but it has a certain majesty to it.
The three-story-high sheer curtains are pretty cool, too.
*has sudden misgivings about the use of “stalactite” vs. “stalagmite,” looks it up on dictionary.com, and discovers she used it correctly.*
Hee. A guide in a cave once told me that it’s “stalactites because they have to hold on tight to stay on the ceiling and stalagmites because you MIGHT trip over them.” 25 years later, I still remember it!
I was taught that “stalactites” has a C in it and therefore refers to the ceiling, while “stalagmites” has a G and therefore refers to the ground. That’s kept me straight for 55 years, but I now like yours better because the second half of the words I had to actually learn!
Alan Davies once remarked that he was taught stalactites sounds like stalac-tights and tights hand down. Whether or not the help or just confuses, I leave to you…

There are three things that make this place awesome:
1) it’s in Barcelona, which in and of itself is awesome
B) it’s very tall, which is awesome unless you’re afraid of tall
IV) the whole place is composed of high-tensile portland cement and pure, uncut awesome
Is it wrong that I want to buy this place and blast some Roxy Music?
When I saw the first photo, I thought this was a joke and you had photoshopped in the dinning room furniture… And then the next photo had 2 story tall white curtains, I still thought – photoshop. But what the heck – it’s real!
WOAH! Awesome! Seriously that is the coolest office/house/whatever EVER. Those curtains – and the arched windows – glorious. Want
Fairly certain that this residence was featured on an episode of MTV’s Cribs and at that time it was inhabited by a Spanish pop star (I think?) whose father had something to do with the building’s existence or was just a famous architect who admired it or something. The TV tour of it was pretty amazing. I would not mind living there at all and it seems like it would self-regulate its temperature really well.
It was Shakira if I remember correctly
This house belongs to Pulina Rubio’s parents and was featured on MTV Cribs.
You can find the video on google easily.

This is Shakira’s house in Venezuela and was featured on MTV Crib’s back in the day.
@ 1st pic: What do you mean with the big cone idea?
HA HA HA… funny..
i think it looks like a huge ice cream cone.
I think I remember seeing this on MTV cribs years ago.
I can’t remember who’s house it was but I think it was in Spain
