Chairturday! Chair.ch

forward march

Where could all these Chairs be? So organized, so uniform, so appealing and yet rather intimidating…

say cheese

“Serried ranks of Chair’s Swiss relations, in Thun town square. Very neat and tidy, the Swiss,” says their spotter, Laura.

Loveliest comment, by Jano: You can bet that just as soon as the concert starts, chair in the middle of the row is going to get up because he forgot to get is Lindt chocolates before the show.

Flip that House!

Jul. 2, 2010

funny real estate - Oops, What Happened Here?

Note to those planning home remodels: if the listing for your house is going to have to point out that you intentionally rotated the front facade by 90 degrees, you might want to rethink those plans.

Or am I giving the remodelers of the house above too much credit? Could it be that they just had the blueprints laid out wrong on the table? We’ve all accidentally put the wrong shelf in first when assembling flat-pack furniture; this is just that same silly careless mistake, writ large.

Very, very large.

Loveliest comment, by Tim: Man, if it was closer to me, I’d take this on. For $15k? That’s the price of a car. This place could be really cool. Think of that bizarre wall of windows opening onto a great room. It could be a really beautiful space. Then again I think this is less of a travesty than most things involving stucco or the adjective “tuscan”.

Oh Sorry! Are We Interrupting?

Jul. 1, 2010

funny real estate - Oh Sorry! Are We Interrupting?
funny real estate - Oh Sorry! Are We Interrupting?

Look, I understand that these people — not being attached to the walls — do not convey with the house. They’re aspirational. You should aspirate to be like them, or something like that. But why? Why would anyone want to be like this? What is the situation here? To begin with they’re drinking coffee — well, they’re English, so maybe it’s tea — so it’s morning. I have no interest in snuggling pre-tea.

But even if I did feel like getting all snookie snookums before breakfast, why on the stairs? Do they not own any furniture? What are they waiting for? Are they going up or down? How hideous is their living room that they’d rather sit on the steps?

Loveliest comment, by Comfy Cushion:

We sit so snug ‘pon the stair
Sipping tea, our cups are pairs.
Snuggled here, all head to head
Because, O God, have you seen the bed?!
