NFSWednesday: Erosion Always Wins

Happy Not For Sale Wednesday! And maybe it’s just as well that this gorgeous Chilean house — or rather, house with a gorgeous Chilean view — is Not For Sale, as I would be tempted to buy it and, as far as I can tell from the architect’s website, it’s designed to erode.

I have enough problems keeping the moss of my roof (last week my neighbor offered me a loan of his power washer, as the condition of my roof pained him). What could I do with a house that embodies the “very crude reality of the temporal condition of architecture”?

Nuthin’, that’s what. So I leave it to someone else, someone who hasn’t been living with unpainted drywall patches for four years.

hm. major greenhouse effect=HOT in the afternoon. and there are two key things to remember when considering living right next to the ocean 1. it often blows like hell, all day and 2. the ocean Never Shuts Up. Ever. oh, and everything you own gets eaten away by salt, immediately, including wiring and major appliances. no, i have never experienced this :-) . so, my suggestion is…..get in back and push. ready? ah one, and a two, and….

Looking from inside out, it reminds me of the old Roman villas from ancient times looking out over the Mediterranean. So is this place going to fall into the ocean?

For you Nicholas Sparks fans, http://www.wral.com/news/state/story/7556863/ the house that they used for the Nights in Rodanthe was just moved.

My guess: that view is gonna get a lot closer in the coming years. Why, you’ll even get a beach right at your doorstep. As in, dip your feet in the ocean whilst having your morning coffee, without even leaving the front step!

Looks like the Ark from the inside…..oh, the appropriate placing, on a mountain, surrouned by water. I would just die laughing if somone named ‘Noah’ bought it.
