Built by mid-century modern designer Rodney Walker, this breathtaking 4,300-square-foot home was completed in 1959 and features 17-foot high ceilings, four bedrooms, three baths and floor to ceiling windows overlooking California’s Ojai Valley.
Although Walker’s three Case Study Houses in Southern California are internationally known and celebrated, his personal residence (pictured here) remained a mystery to the public until his death in 1986.
The home is currently on the market with a price of $4 million, which seems like a steal considering real estate prices in California. I would think with the popularity of period piece shows like “Pan-Am” and “Mad Men” on television, unique houses like this would be selling for way more money.
Are there any California Lovely Listers that can add some insight to the current home prices for the rest of us? People with inquiring minds want to know!
