That, I would think, is pretty much the epitome of privacy. My mind can only guess at the things that went on there.
Hey, everybody into the pool! Never mind that it used to be a water treatment tank.
Joking aside, somebody artistic could probably really do something cool with this.
Agree! It really is rather fabulous. If I had tons of money, any eye at all for design and a desire to live on the Mississippi, I’d steal this bargain.
his very own little Spartaaaaaaaaa…*cough* rather nice for gatecrashers, I guess.
It puts the lotion on it’s skin…
Obviously meant for mass gatherings; look at the doors. Either a restaurant/lounge or perhaps a party-house. Anywayz. Musta been cool when it first opened 25 years ago… shiny, untreated steel was all the rage then, with bright, colored neon lights in the hooded recessed area over the wall. It was never meant to be seen in broad day-light. Pity that iron oxide will ALWAYS have its way, too! •SIC•TRANSIT•GLORIA•MVNDI•
Also a ton of (fatal) accidents waiting to happen here.
Agreed. I wasn’t surprised to find the town has a population of roughly 4000. Any place much bigger would have stricter building codes.
The lower level space (the titular pit) isn’t at all tricked out, but the overall feel (images #5 and #9) is of a Pueblo Indian kiva. The kiva is a sacred space used by elders during religious ceremonies. They go back centuries and can be seen at Chaco Canyon, as well as other sites. A very odd thing to have in what looks to be a former warehouse or industrial building in a tiny town an hour or two north of St. Louis. Still cool, though.
