Ooh, can’t you just picture a row of these at different heights along a long hallway? I’d follow them anywhere!

WANT!
these are beautiful! where can i buy them?!
Oooooohhh. . .If my house had higher ceilings and I had buckets of money. . .
My thoughts exactly. I’m terrified of real jellyfish but these are gorgeous.
Mmm. Why do I have a sudden flash of a Hogwarts-textbook-sort of tome, open to a page with this picture beside an entry “…often lure travelers to their deaths.”
Which does not in the least prevent my wondering whether I could make these.
Oh wow… these are gorgeous!!!
OK, I seriously gotta figure out how to make these…
Aren’t they wonderful? I KNOW you creative types could make this happen!
No, no, no! I’m not listening/seeing, lalalalalala………
The form is nice but I get too many creepy phantom sensations of tentacley things all over me, not to mention the quantum level of pain these bad boys can inflict to ever enjoy these lamps. ERG.
The one exception to the willies I get from these things is in a freshwater lake on the island of Palau, wherein dwell millions of tiny ***venomless*** jellies. They were trapped there long ago, away from the saltwater predators that plague their kin and, hence, had no need to retain their stinging ability. Being small, their tentacles are quite short, so swimming amongst those guys looks like it would feel truly awesome.
For those who swim in the ocean, though, a helpful FYI: keep a large jug of plain white vinegar handy. If someone is stung by jelly fish, douse them with it. Not sure how, but it it’s supposed to stop the pain and damage, at least until you can get medical attention.
Using the link to “inspire me now”, there are other examples of the work of this artist, Geraldine Gonzalez. Her bio is in very florid “ad-speak”, but it references her use of various materials including “papier-mache, cloth, crushed glass and pearls” but says she now primarily uses “crystal paper” which reflects light. The outer shades look like fabric to me, but the inner layers could be cloth, paper or even plastic, and the frames probably are just lightweight wire. I’ll bet they could be reproduced fairly easily, though I don’t know about flammability issues–LED lights, maybe?
Googling “crystal paper” got me a lot of irrelevant results (including “crystal” rolling papers), but it looks as there are some “crystal papers” which can be purchased from craft shops pretty cheaply. I also found this site– (http://www.romanceher.com/crystalpaperflowers.htm)–which sells roses made from crystal paper, described as an iridescent “soft plastic paper”.
I crochet jellies!
