NFSWednesday: Going Up

Oct. 12, 2011

funny real estate - NFSWednesday: Going Up

Oh lookee, I get to have both my vertigo and my fear of deep water flare up at the same time! Throw in an unidentifiable smell of smoke, an airport, and someone touching my knees, and you’ve got the full phobia set.

Sorry, but today is Wednesday and this building is Not For Sale. You can stay there, though.

NFSWednesday: Tuk Tuk Tuk Tuk Tuk House!

Dec. 22, 2010

It’s a tuk-tuk! No, it’s a house! No, it’s a star-gazing platform! No, it’s a delivery van! What on earth am I looking at? All I know is that today is Wednesday and this is Not For Sale. Click on the thumbnail to see more photos, but I can’t promise you’ll be any less befuddled.

Found by: it is a mystery. Which isn’t a clever nom de ‘net; I just don’t know where this came from originally. Anyone want to claim it?

EDIT: Linda Jones found more information. More here.

Loveliest comment, in response to a comment that you’d still have to find a bathroom, by kristen55: Apparently you didn’t notice the bathroom, conveniently located between bins 6 and 7.

NFSWednesday: It Doubles as a Clothes Dryer!

funny real estate - Hamster Wheel Built In!

Oooh! It’s student housing that comes with built-in room spins — what a time saver.

I thought this… uh… housing module, designed by people at Germany’s University of Karlsruhe, was an excellent idea until I started poking around and found this diagram, which I swear is not an example of my excellent Photoshop skills:

I believe that that’s the kitchen there on the left (or possibly it’s a DJ station). And that’s definitely the toilet there in the picture on the right. And the whole room rolls over and over. So at some point you’re going to have what looks like a porta-potty upside-down above your food preparation area. Was zum Teufel?

Loveliest comment, by Gerard: These tubular homes are designed to spin very fast so that the contents of the loo and the pans on the cooker stay stuck, if you follow, by centrifugal force. Think of a domestic wall of death life-style.

Achtung! Ich habe vergessen wie man Deutsch sprechen. Wo ist der Inspector auf Safety? Warum die Deutschen nicht haben Bannisters und Railings in ihre Häuser? Ich glaube que no es seguro, especially if you gusta la drinky-poos like I do.

Loveliest comment, by tuulikki: Maybe they’ve left all the structural Xs open so you can shackle your safety belt to them? Then you can drinkie-poo to your hearts content. “Don’t forget to buckle up!”

So you don't get wet, of course

Maja would like the world to know that no, despite the evidence above, it is not normal for Germans to use umbrellas while taking showers. Uh-huh.
