No more worse than toile but the repetition of the two bindings with portraits on them would start to irritate me after awhile. As would being surrounded by images of books if I had nothing to read.

Whaddya know – it IS wallpaper! It’s the “Genuine Fake Bookshelf” pattern by Deborah Bowness. (The “book” nook itself is in the Hotel du Petit Moulin in Paris, which has some pretty cool decor.)

Kooky, I do believe you’re correct. Either that, or somebody has very peculiar OCD to arrange the same gaping spaces on three pairs of vertically adjacent shelves, with the same books at either side of the spaces.

Hmmm…I wonder if there’s a secret latch you can press to make the wall swivel around and reveal an actual bookcase…
