I ran across this listing in my quest to find a new home. I like a project but this might just be too much to take on. The home is located in Nashville, TN.

The word “dated” does not do justice to what is going on here. It is like these people had a checklist of decorating trends from the late 60s/early 70s:

I have to hand it to the listing agent, though. They tried to put a positive spin on things, “WOW! Have you ever seen a home like this? Come on in and continue to be amazed.”

Loveliest comment, by Land of shimp: You have to admire their commitment to the shag, every single one of those stairs is carpeted. Sweet holy Moses, vacuuming that would be taking your life into your own hands.

Get your affairs in order, it’s time to vacuum the stairs.

Wax is not a sensible building material

On one hand, you get an AWESOME ORANGE SHOWER and sink and toilet. On the other hand, I’m pretty certain they’re made from orange crayons and will melt if you ever turn on the hot water.

Late-breaking news: Eeek!

Loveliest comment, by Sarah: I think they’re made of that radioactive orange Fiestaware, like my grandma’s dishes.

New "It's Lovely!" HQ

Nov. 13, 2008

Oh my god, this is wonderful. It was found by Gav who, I’m guessing from his Austin Powers comment, thought it was shagtastic. But I love it! Really! It’s excellent! Look! It’s like a museum, or a Dwell photo spread!

I’m buying it and moving in and keeping it that impeccably clean. I’ll use an orange rotary phone, and listen to LPs, and look things up in World Book. I shall cook meals involving cans of condensed soup.

And then I’m going to hang up portraits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong-il in every room, just to finish the look.
