Let’s keep the positivity going! Another awesome house, once again not from a listing but let’s face it, we don’t really care.

This is just yer common-or-garden 1930s house in Oklahoma City, bought at a foreclosure sale… and remodeled for Wayne Coyne (of the Flaming Lips) and his wife, the artist J. Michelle Martin-Coyne. And now it’s freaking great. Lookee!

And it has a dragon in the back yard!

Beyoootiful, but I’m glad I’m not responsible for keeping the grout clean.

I am intrigued that the architect’s page says the house provides an ” escape from the groupies and roadies who frequently overrun the compound.” I’m a fan and have been for some 15 or 20 years, but the thought never once crossed my mind of being a Flaming Lips groupie. Or that they even had groupies. I’m sure they’re charming people and all, but… groupies? But anyway. Awesome!

Enough snark! Let’s do a spell of awesomeness. Above, please see exhibit A. That is, A for “awesome.”I was going to go out and find a place in my backyard for a tree swing, but then I saw this and got a whole bunch of better ideas. Do you think I could copy this? I’m pretty certain the zoning laws in my American suburb are just about the same as those in Da Lat, Vietnam. I’ll just print these photos off and take them down to Home Depot, get some advice from one of the orange aprons, and I’ll be on my way.

OH YES I’M ONE OF THOSE UPTIGHT AMERICANS WHO DOESN’T WANT CORPSES IN HER BACKYARD I KNOW YOU’RE ALL SO MUCH MORE ENLIGHTENED ABOUT CORPSES IN OTHER COUNTRIES AND WE’RE SO REPRESSED WHAT WITH THE “NO CORPSES PLEASE” THING GRAR RAR IN THE UK PEOPLE DON’T MIND CORPSES AT ALL THEY JUST STEP OVER THEM WHILE TEXTING ON THEIR PAY-AS-YOU-GO IPHONES AND THEY’RE ALL SO GROOVY AND THEIR BEER IS SO MUCH BETTER AND THEIR REFRIGERATORS ARE SO MUCH SMALLER AND SOMEHOW THAT’S A GOOD THING AND and and and maybe I’ve been spending a bit too much time in Internet discussions lately. Sorry. But I still don’t want corpses in my backyard.

Loveliest comment, by Anodean: The gnome cricket pitch takes this to a class all it’s own – especially with the little stands for the gnome figurine spectators. Made of awesome. I’ll guess that the track with the half-tire flyovers is for racing radio-controlled cars – which itself proves the indomitable spirit of the Aussie, as apparently they can’t get slot-cars there, and have topped it with an outdoor version. I feel a song coming on – all tangled with the story about Rip Van Winkles’ little friends…
