Oh Vegas, Thank Goodness No One Here Has a Gag Reflex

funny real estate - Oh Vegas, Thank Goodness No One Here Has a Gag Reflex

You know what? It’s been a long time since we had an OH MY GOD HOW DID THAT EVEN GET IN THE TOILET? AND WHY DID THE REAL ESTATE AGENT TAKE A PHOTO OF IT? AND WHY IS IT IN THE LISTING? AND HOW SHOULD I LIVE MY LIFE TO MAKE SURE I NEVER SEE THIS IN REAL LIFE? sort of post, the kind there used to be so many of here. So, here you go! My new LOLcat overlord picked a doozy! But good news — in the two years I’ve been doing this I finally sort of maybe figured out how to do it as a thumbnail, so you don’t have to click on it if you don’t want to.

Let me repeat that. You don’t have to click on it.

There is no reason to.

It’s gross.

Don’t do it.

I’m slightly ashamed that I even put this post up. My mom reads this blog, you know.

The air around here is 99% pollen and I can barely think. But one more time: You don’t have to click on it.

One, two, three… SURPRISE!

funny real estate - Surprise Bidet!

Aw, a bidet! This is even better than a stripper jumping out of a cake. Thanks, guys! I can’t wait to turn all four water fixtures on and get really, really clean in all sorts of ways I’ve never been clean before.

Loveliest comment, by Veronica: Bad design! Turn it around so you can brush your teeth at the same time. C’mon people…think!

Iron butterflies

funny real estate - Cheerful Bathroom Infestation

Oh no! The weight of the butterflies caused the house sink into the ground until only the roof remained visible. How tragic.

Loveliest comment, by jim-bob: This house is located in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Now, for those of you who have never heard of it, it was the location of a rash of UFO sightings a few years ago. An A frame is sort of like a pyramid, so this house was obviously built and furnished by aliens looking to use it’s pyramidal shape and butterfly wallpaper to induce a mind control vortex and take over the local population. Sadly, the aliens did not have the greatest of credit due to their lack of employment history on this planet, and ended up getting a sub-prime loan with an adjustable rate. it wound up getting foreclosed on by a force greater than their technology- the collapse of the US economy. Thus we see it offered here, waiting to be used by a new owner in their quest for world domination.

Ta-dah!

Jan. 20, 2010

toilet_stall

Alert reader / nosy person wimple spotted this intriguing bathroom in the house from this post. Cheryl put it well: “I’ve seen that toilet before, in my nightmares. Though mine rarely includes the curtains.”

Why windows, and not walls? I try to think of an occasion when I would ever say “Now! Now is the time to draw back the curtains! Hello, world!” but then my mind goes “no no no don’t think about it no no no think about something nice” and suddenly my mind is flooded with images of kittens. Thank you, mind. Self-preservation is an important instinct.

Loveliest comment, by jackie31337: I still maintain that it’s a toilet isolation booth, and toilet is competing on a game show.

Norwegian Blue

Jan. 5, 2010

blue-showerll

Oh. Huh. It turns out that the Crayola-brand shower we were snickering at a post or two ago is, like, totally normal in Norway. That’s just how they are there. 100% of them. Every single shower in Norway looks like that. Here, I’ll go to a perfectly random listing in Norway… tum te tum… And look! There  it is. I think they’re required by zoning laws.

Loveliest comment, by SM: LOVE it! I’ll take one in every color, and build a house with 24 bathrooms!

Wax is not a sensible building material

On one hand, you get an AWESOME ORANGE SHOWER and sink and toilet. On the other hand, I’m pretty certain they’re made from orange crayons and will melt if you ever turn on the hot water.

Late-breaking news: Eeek!

Loveliest comment, by Sarah: I think they’re made of that radioactive orange Fiestaware, like my grandma’s dishes.

Unusual design choice

Can you believe it? What a freakish thing to do to a bathroom. I can’t believe they thought they could get away with… putting the toilet paper holder all the way over there.

Loveliest comment, by Les: Moral of the story: Just because someone designs and manufactures something doesn’t mean you have to buy it and use it.
