Loveliest comment, by LMA: It absolutely looks like a colorized etching of the deathbed of fill-in-the-name-of-your-favorite-old-timey-President moments after said President’s body was hauled away in a horse-drawn hearse. Someone will bring in an embroidered sampler to “Antiques Roadshow” all sewn up in faded yarns depicting this scene and a carefully cross-stitched alphabet over it and the appraiser will say: “this is based on a famous etching of the Deathbed of President XXX and was sewn by a twelve year old girl, as you can see from the signature below, who attended Girls Finishing Academy in New Bedford, Connecticut. In the current condition, it’s worth about $25,000-$27,000 on the retail market. It’s a splendid piece and I thank you for bringing it in today.”
